Google Buzz has been added to the GMail apps for both the Android and iPhone platforms, as the search giant looks to boost take-up for its social networking service.
A standalone Buzz app is no longer necessary if you have GMail on your phone, as it can now be accessed via a dedicated tab within the latter app.
Viewing replies to comments made on Buzz should now be easier to see, according to Google.
"When you open a buzz post from your inbox, you can perform all the standard functions, such as liking the post or commenting, just as you can from the desktop GMail inbox," an official blog post from Google stated.
Some have questioned the usefulness of the new app update, as most Android and iPhone owners already get their GMail accounts delivered directly to their inboxes, making a secondary source for mail and social networking somewhat superfluous.
