Nokia premieres MeeGo interface

A video showcasing Nokia's upcoming MeeGo operating system's user interface in action has been posted online, hinting at the future of the firm's high end mobiles.

The clip is less than a minute and a half long, but shines a light on the five major aspects of the MeeGo interface which Nokia hopes will allow it to compete with the likes of Android and Apple's iOS 4.

There is no audio attached to the video, which means certain aspects of its functionality remain a mystery, but it is clear that the touch controls are optimised to be finger-friendly and the menu transition, social networking features and multitasking capabilities, definitely mark it out as a powerful platform.

The MeeGo interface looks to echo Palm's WebOS platform with its app switching capabilities, according to Engadget and looks to be a vast improvement over the current Symbian platform.
