The gaming credentials of Microsoft's upcoming Windows Phone 7 platform have been further bolstered by the news that a standalone development studio is being formed.
This news is based on the fact that Microsoft has begun advertising for developers who want to work exclusively with Windows Phone 7.
Windows Phone 7 is set to tie in with its Xbox 360 home console and Microsoft is relying on the popularity of this device to increase awareness and uptake of its latest mobile operating system. This will involve synchronising games and statistics across both platforms and on paper sounds like a step in the right direction.
"Our vision is to deliver games and entertainment so good that people will want them always with them, on a service that makes them social, connected and relevant anywhere their life goes," says Microsoft in the developer job description.
A secondary purpose of a dedicated Microsoft game development team for Windows Phone 7 will be to generate content for the platform even if third party software firms are slow to create their own titles.
