Nokia N8 to sell for £429 SIM free?

Nokia’s latest NSeries phone, the N8, will go on sale for £429 without a contract, code embedded in the Finnish company’s site suggests.

The debut Symbian 3 smartphone’s price point was uncovered by a keen-eyed NokNok reader who came across the code on Nokia’s website.

The leak is the second in the last week, after a Nokia Google ad revealed that the handset will launch in the UK on September 23rd exclusively on Nokia Online, before going on to a wider release on contracts.

Touted by many as a do or die for Nokia after reports of disappointing sales for its predecessor the N900, the N8’s chief focus seems to be mobile media and imaging.

Features include a 12-megapixel camera with a Xenon flash and Carl Zeiss lens, HD video recording, a physical QWERTY keyboard and expandable storage of up to 32GB via microSD card support.

Also onboard are a special graphics chip for 3D gaming, a media player with Dolby Digital sound and a secondary camera for video calling.

In a nod to the iPhone 4, the handset’s 3.5-inch AMOLED touchscreen with multi-touch support display is fashioned from scratch resistant Gorilla glass.
