Virgin Media has unveiled a new app for the Nokia N8, offering users on the go access to the broadcaster’s range of programming from the likes of Comedy Central and 4OD.
The app will be pre-installed on all N8 phones sold on Virgin Media, but is not exclusive to the carrier’s customer base. From launch it will be 3G only, but there are plans to extend it to Wi-Fi at some time in the future, so you’ll be saved from hammering your monthly download limits while watching MTV and idling away your life chuckling at cartoons on Nickelodeon.
Jonathan Kini, Director of Mobile at Virgin Media, said, "The Nokia N8 is a fantastic entertainment handset and the perfect launch partner for our new Virgin Media Player app.
"With more and more consumers enjoying entertainment on the go, the combination of the Virgin Media Player service and the Nokia N8 provide a compelling way for consumers to keep up with their favourite shows as well as enjoy best in class connectivity features to stay in touch with family and friends."
Virgin Media is offering the N8 from £40 per month on monthly contract deals. The first-ever Symbian 3 phone, which teams a 12 megapixel camera with Dolby Digital Surround sound and a rather lovely 3.5-inch touchscreen, is also on offer on O2, T-Mobile, Orange, Vodafone and O2.
