Angry Birds 2 announced – PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii versions also inbound

Angry Birds fans rejoice! The casual gaming marvel that has set the mobile gaming scene alight will be getting a full-blown sequel very soon.

Speaking at the Virtual Goods Summit in London, Rovio boss Peter Vesterbacka confirmed that the eagerly anticipated follow-up to this year’s arguably most celebrated mobile game is currently in development and not just for the mobile platforms, but for consoles, too.

Vesterbacka also hinted that the new game might have a greater emphasis on the villains of Angry Birds, the evil green pigs that players across the world have stayed up hours into the night trying to decimate.

“We want to surprise people.

"No one has told the store from the pigs point of view."

We are certainly intrigued by the prospect of a sequel, or even a prequel to the Angry Birds storyline told from the piggies’ perspective.

It gets even better. Angry Birds 2 will also come with a multiplayer component.

"Multiplayer Angry Birds will be like old school Worms games", Vesterbacka said.

A tweet from @snowcrashed confirmed that Rovio is also investing heavily in making a Facebook game that is “not Angry Birds, but in the same world”.

And if that wasn’t enough, a TV show is also reportedly in the pipeline. We have already heard of the animated film, so the prospect of a TV show makes us even more giddy with joy, especially after seeing the Angry Birds comedy sketch that left us in fits of laughter.

We can’t wait to get our hands on the sequel. Are you excited? Tell us in the comments section below.
