HP’s latest smartphone running the webOS operating system, the Pre 3, will launch in the UK tomorrow, online retailer Clove has confirmed.
Hot on the heels of news that the Pre 3 is now available in Germany, Clove announced it would be the first vendor to offer the handset in the UK.
"This one has been a while coming, but we can now confirm that we will have the HP Pre 3 smartphone in stock as of tomorrow," it announced in its blog.
“There will not be a price increase as had been previously reported, so you can pick one up for £300 (£360 inc. VAT)."
Clove joins Expansys and Play.com, also be on board for the unlocked version of the handset. Expansys is currently taking pre-orders for £394.99 while Play.com is offering it for a more reasonable £349.99. Neither site, though, has given any hint as to its release tomorrow or even this week.
Meanwhile, a support page for the handset has cropped up on Orange UK’s website, adding weight to reports that it will be available on contract from the Everything Everywhere network.
Orange’s ‘coming soon’ page for upcoming handsets still doesn’t show the handset, and the carrier has yet to officially confirm that it will be launch partner for the phone. That, though, hasn’t stopped it from becoming available to pre-order via Mobiles.co.uk on both Orange and T-Mobile on contracts starting at £20.42.
Rocking a 3.6-inch touchscreen with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, the Pre 3’s unique selling point is its operating system, webOS 2.2, powered by the latest 1.4GHz processor from Qualcomm.
Elsewhere it is home to a rear-mounted five-megapixel camera with flash autofocus and HD recording capabilities, plus a front-facing VGA for making video calls.
