Got lucky in the Olympics tickets lottery? Not so much? Well, the good news today is that you still have a chance to see the home team in the flesh if you’re one of the first people to snap up a Samsung Galaxy S3 tomorrow.
In a bid to emulate the kind of fanboyish fervour Apple launches typically generate, Sammy is giving away tickets, gratis, to the first 50 people to queue up and purchase the Galaxy S3 at the phone-maker’s official store at London’s Westfield Stratford City at 6pm.
Customers are being advised to queue up at least an hour early, though we reckon you should set up camp a lot sooner if you’re really keen on getting your mitts on those passes.
If you’d rather enjoy the Games from the comfort of your living room or would like to avoid the hefty one-off payment, you can pick up the S3 the following day on a range of contracts from all the major networks.
Billed as the official Olympics handset, highlights of the S3 include a 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED display, a 1.4GHz quad-core Exynos processor, an eight-megapixel that shoots in 1080p HD and up to 32GB of internal storage.
It also offers Near Field Communications (NFC) smarts for making fast payments during the Games courtesy of Visa, and some snazzy software such as S-Voice, a Siri-like personal voice assistant, and SmartStay, which keeps the screen on as long as you’re looking at it.
