There are tough phones. Then there are good-looking tough phones. It seems the Nokia Lumia 900 is one of the latter, if coming unscathed from taking hammer blows is any evidence.
A video created to demonstrate the handset’s tough Gorilla Glass construction shows a Nokia engineer lightly hammering a nail on the display, which the phone endures with no visible damage. It’s made more wince-worthy when the Lumia 900 itself is used as a hammer, but luckily still showed no sign of injury.
The experiment was inspired by a similar trial on the Sonim mobile phone, billed as the world's toughest phone. But the Lumia 900 is a miles sexier bit of kit, which is what makes it all the more impressive.
The clip’s already gone viral and comes hot on the heels of a recent controversy where Apple rigged its iPhone’s Siri personal assistant so that it no longer names the Lumia 900 as the world’s best smartphone based on aggregate reviews.
