Authentic-looking cases for the 'iPad Mini' have leaked online, seemingly corroborating and simultaneously casting doubt on what we thought we knew about Apple’s micro slate.
Sourced by Gotta Be Mobile, the snaps of the eye-poppingly pink cases feature a much smaller dock connector, chiming with rumours that Apple will ditch its 30-pin connector for one with 18 or 9 pins.
The dimensions of the case also appear to tally with the welter of reports that the iPad Mini will feature a screen in the region of 7.85-8-inches.
However, it’s notable that there is an opening for a rear-facing camera. That jars with recent gen from the iSupply chain indicating that Apple is to dispense with a camera in a bid to keep costs down to the £249-£299 price point mooted for the tablet.
What does seem apparent from the photos, though, is that if a camera does feature it’ll be one sans LED flash – that’s purely because the size of the aperture Apple seems to be allowing for the camera just isn’t large enough to incorporate a flash-capable camera. So maybe there’s some sort of cost saving to be had there.
Reputed to land alongside the iPhone 5 in September, the iPad Mini is expected to drop 3G connectivity and retain the same dual-core processor – moves also aimed at keeping the asking price down.
