EE is doubling 4G allowances for a limited period with a summer promotion, as time ticks on its status as the UK's sole next-generation network.
Under the terms of the offer, customers who sign up for a two-year smartphone contract on a range of plans between July 17th and October 30th will qualify for the extra data for no extra charge.
While the allowance on select plans will double with the promotion, others will feature quadruple the data usage.
The £26 per month contract, which previously included a monthly allowance of 500MB of data, will now provide 1GB per month. Heavier users benefit more, though, with the data allowance on the 5GB plan at £51 per month extended to 20GB.
The promo comes as EE confirmed that it is doubling 4G speeds in 12 cities, with the result that customers can expect to receive average connection speeds of between 24Mbps and 30Mbps and a theoretical maximum of 150Mbps.
Locations where speed will double are Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Derby, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Manchester, Nottingham and Sheffield.
