Apple’s forthcoming iPad mini refresh will see the device pack a Retina Display and come in a wide array of colours.
That’s the latest inside line from sources speaking with The Wall Street Journal (WSJ). The usual ‘people familiar with the matter’ told the paper that LG, Sharp and Samsung would all be supplying displays to Apple.
The latter has been included after AU Optronics was ditched by Apple following problems with its supply chain.
The inclusion of different colours suggests Apple is looking to build on the success of 2012’s iPod touch line-up.
The forthcoming budget iPhone 5C is also believed to offer a variety of colourful designs, marking a change of tack under the post-Jobs tower of command.
Unfortunately, there’s no word from the WSJ about a release date. But with Apple expected to launch its new iPhone lineup in September, it’s likely that the new iPad mini will make its debut around the same time.
