Just because LG has said it is out of the running to make Google’s rumoured Nexus 6 doesn’t mean the device is dead in the water.
New rumours suggest that one of HTC or Motorola could be working on such a handset on behalf of Google, despite previous chatter that the search giant was looking to kill the Nexus brand off.
Motorola seems to be in pole position. The Google fanatics at Android Police have sniffed out word that the Nexus 6 is codenamed Shamu and will come with a massive 5.9–inch screen. That should place the handset well within the phablet category.
Talk of HTC’s involvement stems from recent leaks about is involvement with a new version of Google’s Nexus tablet. Some tech hounds have put two and two together and reckon the Taiwanese mobile maker is being primed to make a Nexus phone too.
Either way, the Nexus 6 appears to be back. Whether it makes an official appearance our not come the end of 2014 remains to be seen.
