Three customers are in line for 50% 4G speed boost, as the reach of the carrier’s network improvements extend across the UK.
The faster speeds are already available in Northern England, the West Midlands, Scotland and Northern Ireland, but are now being rolled out across the rest of the UK, including London, on a location-by-location basis.
There will be no extra charge for speedier 4G, Three has confirmed.
The enhanced service has been facilitated by Three’s acquisition of an extra 5MHz of 1800MHz spectrum and follows the launch of its 4G Super-Voice proposition last month.
Using low-frequency 800MHz spectrum, this offers improved signal strength in rural areas and allows mobile signals to travel further into buildings.
Bryn Jones, chief technology officer at Three, said: “Many of our 4G customers will already be enjoying a faster, more reliable experience at no extra cost.
“Our network processes a huge amount of data and we will continue to work hard on providing them with a service that delivers the reliability and speed that they need.”
Three’s network currently covers 98% of the UK.
