Apple is working on a new set of cordless headphones designed to work in conjunction with the upcoming iPhone 7, it has emerged.
The Bluetooth cans are set to have Beats branding and are likely to be called AirPods, a name Apple has already registered with US authorities. It’s believed that the headphones will be charged wirelessly via a special carry case.
Sources claim that the headphones' battery life could be as low as four hours, as both earpieces will require their own chipsets and power units.
The news comes as rumours gather pace about Apple’s plans to completely ditch the traditional 3.5mm headphone jack from the iPhone 7.
As well as offering wireless headphones, Apple is expected to bundle a pair of its standard EarPods headphones with a wired connection using the iPhone 7’s Lightning connector.
Other reports claim that the iPhone 7 will come with an all–new design, an improved camera and as much as 256GB storage. The handset is set for release in autumn.
