Three has revealed a new range of Essentials tariffs, which strip out the network’s best perks in a move designed to offer customers better value for money.
The packages do not include its Feel At Home free roaming service when travelling or the chance to tether your phone and use data to connect a tablet or laptop to the Internet. What’s more, calls to Three’s own customer service line will be taken out of your allowance or charged at the standard rate if you’ve gone off your monthly limit.
However, there’s a key trade off. The prices on these deals are very low, starting at £6 a month for 500MB of data, 200 minutes of calls and unlimited texts. That rises to £26 for 30GB data and all–you–can–eat calls and messages.
Data add–ons can be purchased at any point during the monthly cycle, although you will need to have used up all of your web access before you buy more. Personal hotspot access can also be added at a cost.
Three Essentials is available on a range of 24 month contracts including a smartphone, or as one and twelve month SIM–only deals. The network has also renamed its existing plans as Advanced contracts. These still offer Feel At Home and tethering as standard.
