Samsung looks set to include an iris scanner and dual lens camera in its next generation Galaxy S8 smartphone, as the handset-maker looks to the future in the wake of the recall of the glitch-ridden Note 7.
The iris scanner was a key feature in the Galaxy Note 7. Its inclusion in the S8 will allow Samsung to push its security credentials once again, with fingerprint scanning technology to match the Google Pixel and iPhone 7.
A dual lens camera has become de-rigeur among top-end smartphones, so Samsung’s decision to add one to the Galaxy S8 makes sense.
It’s not clear how it will differ from that found in the iPhone 7 Plus, although it’s likely to offer the same wide and zoom lens approach.
The Galaxy S8 is likely to launch in late February, ahead of the annual Mobile World Congress show in Barcelona.
