BT has announced a reduction of subscription costs for its Openzone wireless service.

Customers will be able to make savings of up to 50 per cent - the broadband provider is now offering monthly deals from as low as £5 per month up to £28 per month for heavy business users.

It seems the reach of Openzone has expanded too, with new sites taking the number of hotspots up to 100,000 in the UK and Ireland.

"The last six months have seen double the use, with huge demand at hotels, major travel hubs, high street locations and residential & business areas," said BT Openzone's manager Chris Bruce.

He continued: "To make access easier, we’ve simplified our subscriptions so customers can understand what they’re getting and where they can use it."

With the adding of 2,500 hotspots recently, the number of European Openzone sites now stands at over 50,000.
