A new gaming service will be available through BT's TV packages in 2011, according to reports.

PCR has revealed that the OnLive platform, which will run through the BT Vision platform, has just made its debut in the US but will be launched on these shores towards the end of next year.

As well as being available through BT, the service is also set to be open to those who subscribe to deals from the likes of Plusnet.

Talking to the website, a BT spokesperson said games usually available on consoles will be offered through the platform.

The source added: "Over time, as consumer broadband connectivity increases and as games become more complex, we expect cloud-based distribution models for gaming to become increasingly attractive and mainstream."

Earlier this year, BT agreed a deal with Arqiva that will see its TV capacity boosted so the broadband provider can offer Sky Sports 1 and 2 to subscribers.
