Californian tech companies are known for their laid-back working cultures, but there’s always a downside. Now a Netflix representative has revealed what is simultaneously the best and worst thing about working at the streaming company.

The reveal came on a LinkedIn post (which has more than 1,000 comments) in which Netflix asked for questions about working at the company. Responding to a question about what is the best and worst thing about life at the firm, the representative replied:

“The best thing is the freedom to do whatever you think is necessary to move the business forward. The worst thing is that nobody will tell you how to spend your time or what exactly you should be working on (outside of setting larger goals for your role).

“Determining which projects will be truly impactful is up to you, and sometimes that is really hard.”

The firm is known for letting go any staff who are not firing on all cylinders. It couches this in slightly cosier terms, saying it grants them a “respectful generous severance package”.
