Mobile phone websites are enjoying a massive increase in visitors, as consumers flock to find out about the latest mobiles.
According to a study conducted by Nielsen Online, unique visits from UK consumers to phone sites grew from 7.7 million in July 2008 to 12.2 million last month.
This represents an increase of 58 per cent and meant that visits grew at a faster rate than for any other sector.
Among the companies benefiting from the upsurge in interest in mobiles was Finnish manufacturer Nokia, which saw visits up by a massive 203 per cent.
Meanwhile, Vodafone and O2, which holds exclusive rights to sell iPhones in the UK, saw increases of 91 per cent and 79 per cent respectively.
The surge in visits is likely to have been driven by the launch of a host of huge mobile phone launches this year.
These have included the iPhone 3G S, Nokia’s flagship mobile phone for 2009 the Nokia N97 and the forthcoming Palm Pre.
