Vodafone only made the iPhone available to its customers on January 14th, but it estimates that in the rush it has managed to shift 50,000 brand new 3Gs models in just 24 hours.

When Orange launched the iPhone in the Autumn of 2009 it managed to sell 30,000 units, which it seems is a record that Vodafone could well have now topped. This news casts even more of a cloud on the initial sales of the Google Nexus One which totalled a comparatively modest 20,000 units in its first week.
Vodafone shops around the UK were swamped with eager existing customers looking to upgrade to the iPhone 3Gs, as well as new customers wanting to try out Apple's consistently popular smartphone for the first time.
The iPhone 3G S is still managing to sell well despite having been made available last summer and more networks offering the mobile seem to be fuelling public demand for it rather than compromising its exclusive, expensive image.
