There has been much excitement in the mobile gaming community surrounding the proposed ports of Final Fantasy I and II for the iPhone. It now appears that developer Square Enix is getting ready for a full launch on Thursday.
The games will come with a graphical overhaul and are based on the revamped versions created for the PlayStation Portable three years ago, which were themselves based on games nearly two decades old.
Touch sensitive controls will allow for a unique interface courtesy of the iPhone and all of the bonus material include in the PSP versions will also be present.
PocketGamer unearthed the release date, although so far Square Enix has not mentioned any pricing. The two games are expected to retail as separate entities and a price tag of £2.99 or £3.99 would not be a surprising figure to see.
The iPhone is continuing to be a haven for retro gaming, with the Final Fantasy games joining other classics from different genres, including Monkey Island, Broken Sword and of course Tetris.
