Apple has selected the 10 best iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad apps for commendation as part of the Apple Design Awards at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in California.
Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver picked up a gong for his 20 Minute Meal Ideas app, with Apple applauding its simple and intelligent implementation of an instructional recipe series for busy people.
Several iPad apps, including guitar tab program TabToolKit and 3D multiplayer game Flight Control HD, were singled out for their excellence, as was the iPhone drawing app Brushes.
Addictive casual gaming phenomenon Doodle Jump also garnered plaudits and the Financial Times received a mention for its iPad app. Wikipedia converter Articles for iPhone was also given an award.
The awards set out to "recognise iPhone OS applications that demonstrate technical excellence, innovation and technology adaption," according to Apple.
