iPhone 3G is UK's 'most recycled' mobile

Phone 3G owners are recycling their mobiles faster than any other brand in the UK, putting it at the top of the mobile recycling statistics.

This rise in recycling rates is obviously attributable to the arrival of the iPhone 4, with many 3G owners looking to make some money from the sale of their old mobiles in order to offset the cost of Apple's latest smartphone.

The iPhone 3G is selling for an average of £170, according to recycling site Sell My Mobile. Both 8GB and 16GB versions of the 3G were selling in their thousands, along with the 16GB edition of the newer 3G S model.

Nokia's 5800 Xpress Music came close to topping the charts, along with the BlackBerry Curve 8900 from Research in Motion (RIM).

Across all brands, owners were receiving an average of £77.75 for the recycling of their mobiles, although the high value of iPhone models means that it is possible to lose out significantly if the right recycling site is not identified, according to Sell My Mobile.
