iPhone 4 iWork screenshots leaked or faked?

Photos claiming to show Apple's iWork program working on the iPhone 4 have surfaced online, but are being widely interpreted as fakes.

Suspicions were raised when the captured images were found to have been sourced from an iPod Touch running iOS, rather than an iPhone 4 or 3G S as might have been expected.

This has led some to believe that some image manipulation software has been involved in creating the mock-ups, rather than an actual leak from within Apple.

A range of inconsistencies have been detected across the images, with awkward, unpolished wording and colour-changing buttons making the whole thing feel unpolished and distinctly unlike anything linked to Apple.

The latest images claiming to show iWork for iPhone have advanced over others published earlier in the week, falling more in line with the iPad version of iWork, according to 9to5Mac.

However, these improvements have not quelled widespread scepticism as to their legitimacy.
