The Nike+ GPS App now offers Facebook support, allowing runners’ friends to encourage them on their way as they pound the pavements in the name of getting fit.
The tweaked app now offers a feature dubbed Facebook Cheer Me On. Runners simply activate the ‘Get Cheers’ option during their jog to post a profile update reading: “Cheer me on with a comment and I’ll get it on the run.”
Responses to said entreaty are then pulled into Facebook – in theory at least, chivvying would-be athletes along.
Also new in the 2.0 edition of the application is the One More PowerSong feature. Acccording to Nike’s team of PR Mr Motivators, this encourages user to “blast past [their] goals and records by running the duration of one more song”.
Priced £1.19 and available to download now, Nike+ GPS App is compatible with the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4, plus second, third and fourth generations iPod Touches running iOS 4.0 or above.
