An enterprising huckster is cashing in on Rovio’s hugely popular casual gaming phenom with a shockingly shonky Angry Birdz iPhone app, available to download now from the iPhone App Store.
Tamas Novak, the ahem ‘mastermind' behind the title, presumably hopes folk will buy the title – a snip at ‘just’ $9.99 – thinking they’re getting the real deal.
Boy, would they be disappointed. For more than times the price of Angry Birds you get what they good folks at PocketGamer.com describe as an “amateurish-looking” app with what sounds like the most rudimentary watch-the-penny gameplay.
Frankly we’re kind of amazed that Apple let the game through its approval process at all. Although, we’re not anticipating that it’ll stick around much longer once Rovio gets wind of Novak's little game.
In other avenging avians-related news, today saw more Angry Birds merch surface. This time we were treated to the first sight of some rather lovely iPhone cases for the iPhone 4, which, naturally, we've already add to our rapidly expanding Christmas wishlist already swollen by plushes and T-Shirts.
There was good cheer too today for Nokia N8 and C7 owning fans of the game, after Rovio confirmed that the next update for the handset will bring with it 45 new levels, plus the much-touted Big Setup challenge.
