A team of hackers dedicated to spreading the Android operating system to Apple’s iDevices has ported over Android 2.3, AKA Gingerbread onto an iPhone 3G S.
A move that may be considered blasphemous by the most ardent of Apple fanboys, Steve Jobs primarily, it seems there’s no stopping the ever-growing presence of Android, even on the Jesus phone, which seemed to load up, albeit slowly, the latest iteration of Google’s OS. You can vidi it in action below.
Fandroids, however, might be more irked to see Gingerbread onboard an iPhone long before it even hit their own smarties, with Nexus S being the only exception. Their frustration may only grow to know that team iDroid is already hard at work in bringing Honeycomb to iPhone.
While we would certainly not recommend trying to install an OS on a handset it wasn’t built for, if you must do it, be sure to do your homework or else you’ll end up with an expensive iBrick instead.
