Yes, the iPhone 5, the one that’s not even announced yet, will be getting the legendary 'white edition' treatment before iPhone 4, latest rumours suggest.
According to Chinese news outlet Economic Daily News, Apple is not just gearing up for the launch of the fifth-generation iPhone, which we all know is coming, but is also working on a white model, for real this time.
The translated quote, courtesy of Digitimes, says: “Wintek reportedly to be the sole touch panel supply for white iPhone 5s and may replace TPK Touch Solutions to become the leading touch panel maker worldwide in 2011 as Apple plans to focus on white models for the iPhone 5.”
To be blunt, we’re all a little jaded from the endless white iPhone 4 speculation. But what still managed to pique our interest about this particular rumour is that Apple reportedly plans to ‘focus on’ the white iPhone 5, which may suggest the possibility of it becoming available at launch alongside the regular black version, or even released as the primary model.
Of course, we’re only speculating. Apple hasn’t exactly given us a whole lot to put our faith in when it comes to rumours, however credible they may sound. So it’s still all up in the air.
That’s not to say the white iPhone 4 is dead and buried. As far as we’re concerned, it’s still slated for launch sometime in spring, possibly early April. And with fresh rumours of the iPhone 5 being delayed till September, there’s plenty of time for everyone to contemplate the benefits of a white iPhone as opposed to a black one.
