O2 launches iPhone and Android location-aware deals app

O2 has launched a new app for the iPhone and Android to offer its customers a host of exclusive deals based on their current location.

Titled Priority Moments, the app can reportedly save punters up to £105 a month through a wide-range of discounts and special promotions. Presently some 30 high-street vendors are on board, including Harvey Nichols and cinema chain ODEON.

This week the former is offering a free canvas tote bag with every purchase of fashion or beauty products over £25, while the latter is giving away adult tickets at half price from Sunday to Thursday. Books retailer WHSmith is also on board with a half price offer on the two best-selling books of the week.

Sally Cowdry, O2's marketing and consumer director, said: “This is not a tactical programme of one-off deals – it’s about building a long-term, nationwide service that benefits both our customers and our partners.

"With Priority Moments we are bringing our customers exclusive, special offers and experiences from their favourite brands in a way that works for them. The combination of mobile, great offers and experiences by trusted companies with long term partnerships creates what we believe is a special service.”

The app works by using the phone’s GPS to pinpoint the user’s current location, then displaying deals that are available nearby. Once an offer has been obtained, it will display a unique code, which the customer can present at the till at the point of purchase.

Priority Moments is available to download for free by texting ‘Moments’ to 2020. Feature phone users can also explore offers via WAP on the mobile browser.
