Apple’s massively anticipated next-generation iPhone will land on store shelves on October 21st, leaked gen from one of the US’s largest tech retailers suggests.
According to a screen grab detailing Best Buy’s pre-release plans for an unnamed store, which was obtained by This is My Next, an Apple rep will be dropping in on said date to install a mysterious display fixture, no doubt to show off the phone to best affect.
Adding weight to the speculation is that apparently BestBuy has requested that a manager rolls up at 6AM on the 21st - presumably to get the store ready for the inevitable onslaught of first-day fanboys eager to get their hands on the phone.
There’s no mention that all this is for iPhone 5. However, BestBuy head honchos are reportedly normally only required to be in store for 7AM – suggesting that whatever is happening that day, it’s big. The up-with-the-lark start also tallies with BestBuy’s iPhone 4 launch-day plans, when a 6AM start was also stipulated.
Quite what to expect from Apple this time around remains unknown. However, if supply chain heat can be believed, we’re in for a device rocking a larger four inch screen (the iPhone 4’s is a comparatively bijou 3.5-inches), an improved eight megapixel camera and, in the US at least, 4G support for super fast browsing.
