Infinity Blade 3 out September 18th, to show off iPhone 5s's 64-bit chip

The hotly-anticipated third instalment of the Infinity Blade series will be out on the same day as the new iPhones, Epic Games announced last night. Which is handy, because the game has been optimised to take advantage of the iPhone 5s's new processing power.

One of the highlights of the iPhone 5s is the new A7 processor. This features 64-bit architecture, which should give CPU and graphics performance up to twice as fast as the iPhone 5's A6 chip.

That means better graphics, and less slowdown, so it can handle more mayhem on screen.

A7 also supports OpenGL ES version 3.0, which gives you the kind of detailed graphics previously only possible on desktop computers.

Epic Games showed a demo of Infinity Blade 3 at the Apple announcement last night, with graphics that were suitably PC-like.

The iPhone 5s packs more processing power than the more affordable iPhone 5c. So you'll need the 5s if you want to play the most graphically advanced games the App Store has to offer.

Infinity Blade 3 will cost $6.99, so expect it to be £6.99 in the UK. It'll consist of eight worlds, each at least as big as the first game. You'll also be able to play as either of the two characters, Siris or Isa.
