Renowned Apple-leaker Sonny Dickson has posted new videos on YouTube which show the iPhone 6’s new sapphire screen being bent out of shape.
The idea is to prove that this new display can withstand stress as well as previous iPhone screens, which have used Corning’s Goralla Glass rather than sapphire.
In another clip, Dickson shows the new iPhone 6 screen next to that of the iPhone 5S, comparing them for size and showing the dimensions of the newer part.
Apple’s use of sapphire in the iPhone 6 has been widely tipped in recent weeks.
Some rumour-mongers reckon Tim Cook and co will utilise the material in the larger iPhone 6 5.5–inch, but stick with Corning’s solution in the smaller, 4.7–inch model.
The iPhone 6 is likely to hit shelves in autumn, after a planned launch event in September.
