Apple will release its long–awaited AirPods 2 by the end of 2018, despite choosing not to reveal them during its recent iPhone and iPad launch events.
Tech tipster Ice Universe, known for getting their predictions bang on the money, made the claim on Twitter. However, they did not elaborate or offer any proof of the assertion.
It is still unclear whether AirPods 2 will feature noise cancelling. Recent rumours have pointed towards them coming with ‘Hey Siri’ voice activation and water proofing. The latter has been a major request from those who use AirPods to exercise.
A new chip inside the headphones is thought to help extend battery life, while they should also arrive with a new case that can facilitate wireless charging. The inclusion of the latter also points towards the imminent launch of AirPower, Apple’s wireless charger for iPhone, Apple Watch and AirPods.
One thing is certain. When AirPods 2 do launch, they are likely to cost more than the current version, which comes in at £159.
