Households and businesses can improve the speed and reliability of their broadband connections by signing up for fibre services, it has been claimed.
Graeme Miller, Chief Executive of government-owned JT - which is currently constructing a next-generation network in Jersey - explained that fibre offers several service advantages.
Subscribers are able to download and upload data at a faster rate than is possible with ADSL broadband, he noted.
"They also get a service that is more reliable," Mr Miller stated, as reported by the BBC.
"It doesn't matter how long the fibre between your house and our exchange is, you get a reliable service."
He revealed that JT has physically passed almost 20,000 homes on Jersey as the firm bids to make super-fast broadband available across the island.
More than 1,000 customers have already signed up for fibre broadband in Jersey.
Mr Miller said the company is targeting 100 per cent network coverage by Easter 2013.
