T-Mobile now offers free Netflix subscriptions to customers in the US.

The network announced that the streaming service is now gratis to anyone on a T-Mobile One family plan.

The offer applies from 12th September.

According to T-Mobile, the deal upends the usual offers found in the mobile industry.

"The future is mobile, over-the-top and unlimited," said John Legere, T-Mobile's chief executive. "While the carriers spend billions on their franken-strategies to cobble together carrier-cable-content mashups, the un-carrier just leapfrogged them all by partnering with the best and giving it to customers at no extra charge."

The deal only covers the standard Netflix subscription, not the Premium one which allows 4K viewing.

Here in the UK, Three offers a plan called Go Binge, which lets customers on certain tariffs stream content for free. But you still have to pay for your Netflix subscription.
