Google is finally selling 4K films in the UK through Google Play, almost a year after it first offered them in the US and Canada.

To see the films offered, you'll have to connect to Google Play using a Google Chromecast Ultra streaming dongle, a 4K TV, or a compatible Android TV. To watch them, you'll need a minimum broadband speed of 15Mbps.

At the moment, 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' is the only title showing up as available to own in 4K. The resolution has four times as many pixels as high definition, making it much sharper.

4K is also known as Ultra High Definition.

The 4K version of 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' costs more than the high definition version – it'll set you back £13.99, compared to £9.99 for the HD one.

On the face of it, that seems a bit steep, especially considering that Apple prices its 4K fare the same as its high definition offerings. (Apple will also gift you the 4K version of any HD films you've already bought, as long as they're available in 4K.)

But then newer HD films cost £13.99 on Google Play. So it's not such a huge mark-up.
