O2 named 'fastest broadband provider'
Posted 27th June 2008 at 12:08pm by Alex Buttle
O2 has been named the fastest broadband provider in the UK, after recent research from one comparison site.
Moneysupermarket.com conducted a study focusing on comparing the broadband speeds customers are promised with the speed they actually receive.
While firms offer packages with speeds of 'up to 8 Mbps' the speed customers will actually enjoy - especially those who live far away from telephone exchanges - can be much less.
It was found that the actual speed consumers who signed up to O2's 8Mpbs package were receiving was over 5Mpbs - the best of any provider tested in the study.
Head of moneysupermarket.com, Rob Barnes, commented: "O2 has sped its way to the top of the broadband league offering a great package. However, broadband in Britain is still lagging, especially when the second best connection is only half the advertised speed."
Use our broadband speed test to find out the speed of your connection and compare potentially faster packages.
