Virgin Media to launch into mobile broadband market
Posted 11th June 2008 at 6:45pm by Alex Buttle
Telecoms provider Virgin Media has announced its entrance into the mobile broadband market with the release of a new USB dongle.
In a bid to make the broadband market more diverse, the company is offering a very different product to its competitors, according to reports.
Virgin is currently absent from the 100,000 market but is set to rival current ISP providers when it launches this product in the coming weeks.
According to Broadband Genie, a spokesperson for the company said: "Virgin will try to offer something that appears unique in a bid to compete. They want something which really distinguishes itself from the competition."
In related news, reports in the Guardian tell how Virgin Media has produced around 80 idents to back up its sponsorship of this year's Big Brother series on Channel 4.
The clips will run for the 13 weeks that Big Brother is on the air and are a number of tongue-in-cheek ads promoting the company's broadband offerings.
