Tesco broadband to 'threaten TalkTalk'
Posted 20th April 2009 at 4:00pm by Alex Buttle
Tesco's expected foray into the mobile broadband market could take business away from TalkTalk, according to new reports.
Carphone Warehouse, which owns TalkTalk, is thought to be under pressure from the possible move, various publications have suggested.
International Supermarket News foresees the likely creation of many mobile phone outlets in Tesco stores across the UK as bad news for TalkTalk.
The website explained: "Tesco's assault on the mobile phone and broadband market will create another headache for Carphone Warehouse, which is this week expected to postpone plans to split the TalkTalk broadband business from the retail store chain, until financial markets stabilise.
"The Tesco in store phone shops will sell handsets as well as mobile and broadband contracts."
According to the Daily Mail, Tesco will double the number of its mobile outlets by spring 2010.
