Virgin Media has added to the appeal of its broadband TV bundles by announcing the launch of seven new UKTV channels for its digital television service.

Eden HD, Eden +1, Good Food HD, Yesterday +1, Watch HD, Dave HD, and Alibi HD will all be added to the firm's line-up during the autumn.

The new additions extend Virgin Media's high definition channel offering to 37, of which 24 are available to its XL TV customers for no extra monthly HD fee.

According to the broadband provider, the UKTV channels offer "a wealth of great entertainment", including classic series and original programming.

From October customers can look forward to a whole host of new series from the network, with Eden's World of Wonder and A Very British Party among the debut shows.

Series two of Choccywoccydoodah is also set to air on Good Food, while Argumental is returning to Dave in November.

Cindy Rose, Executive Director of Digital Entertainment at Virgin Media, said the broadband provider was "thrilled" to be bringing more dazzling HD channels to its TV service.

She said the firm would be offering even more choice and variety to TV consumers in the future.

"Our commitment remains to deliver and develop the most compelling digital home entertainment service available in the UK," Ms Rose added.

"We will continue to build on our great TV and On Demand offerings to give our customers the best range of services now and for the future."

Keith Porritt, Executive Director for Commercial at UKTV, said the broadcaster was delighted to become a leading supplier of Virgin Media's HD offering.

"These channels show the breadth of HD content we offer on our network from jaw-dropping natural history and mouth-watering food programs to amazing magic and the best in stand-up comedy," he added.

Virgin Media's M+ TV tariff offers access to 65 channels, L offers 100 and XL includes the full range of 160.

Broadband, TV and phone bundles – which come with a TiVo 500GB box and free connection – are available from £23 per month.
