There is speculation surrounding Tiscali's IPTV service in the UK after the company announced it would be ceasing its Italian offering.

The provider offers the service as part of a triple-play package in the UK, along with telephony and a broadband connection.

Italian subscribers will not be able to watch content through their Tiscali IPTV service as of the new year and now concern has turned to British shores.

Tiscali bought Homechoice in 2006 but is thought not to have attracted as many subscribers as it would have liked since, with estimates of the provider's total IPTV customer base at around 50,000.

Attempting to explain the potential pitfalls lying in wait for Tisali's IPTV service, ITProPortal said: "Tiscali TV is not as complete as Sky's or Virgin's and faces a tough time against Freesat and Freeview, especially with the emergence of cheap Personal Video Recorders."

I am astounded you comment Tiscali+ TV is not as complete as Sky or Virgin, as a user myself the only thing missing is HD, and it also has the extra feature of being able to search program guide to find keyword (like a google search) I say its fantasic..go out and get it installed today (not a Tiscal Employee :-)
