South Korea has the fastest broadband connections in the world, according to new research.
A recent study by Akamai found that the country boasts an average broadband connection speed in excess of 15Mb.
South Korea also boasts the highest number of connections in the 5Mb-plus bracket, it was found.
These facts were presented alongside other global broadband figures, including that 19 per cent of connections globally can reach speeds greater than 5Mb.
After it was discovered that the high-speed internet population in South Korea, Sweden, the Netherlands, Denmark and Norway has grown, Akamai said that this was indicative of recent projects.
"This is consistent with what would be expected from the initiatives to bring higher-speed connectivity, including fibre-to-the-home efforts, to consumers in these countries," said the firm.
