Virgin Media customers up to speed at 10Mb

Three-quarters of Virgin Media's new broadband subscribers are connecting at speeds of 10Mb or quicker, it has been revealed.
The provider's latest financial report disclosed that about 75 per cent of its customers sign up for one of its high-speed packages, with more than a third of its total user base hooked up to a 10Mb service.
Among the group's offerings to the market is a 50Mb fibre optic service, which is presently the fastest connection available on the market.
Virgin Media's report read: "From May 2009, we plan to begin upgrading our 2.4 million existing 2Mb customers to our 10Mb service.
"We continue to roll out availability of our 50Mb service which we expect to be available to our entire broad-band capable network during the third quarter of 2009."
The company's quarterly results also disclosed that 47,300 households signed up to its broadband packages in the first three months of 2009.

I am on 2 mg broadband speed and prior to 01/05/2009 I was told by Virgin Media Customer Services that my broadband speed will be upgraded to 10 mg authomatically and I will just be expected £2 every month for the total bill for telephone, tv and broadband. This was empty promise as nothing has materialised. Virgin Media do not keep up to their promises and give empty promises to its existing customers.

I've had the same isp for 9 years and since virgin took over it has been pathetic at best, the customer service are a set of dumbfounded imbeciles incapable of fixing the problem at their end for about a week now.
The virgin system is broken and I am close to swapping to who seems competent in the field. Thus far the claims are lies. -

they have not upgraded me from the 2mg yet and i am from bournemoouth where the fibre optic cables are availible

I have just left virgin because they are incompetent , expensive and are sloppy with their wiring. They left the cables on top of my lawn for the best part of 2 years before they came and buried it in the garden.

When they found out I was using a new provider I was inundated with calls asking me to stay and making promises on reducing costs - but I think they are empty promises. Its hard to convey how unhapy I have been with them and I am soooo glad to see the back of them!!
