The government has asserted that it is on course to deliver its Digital Britain report this month.

Last Friday (June 5th), a re-shuffle of the government saw Culture Secretary Andy Burnham replaced by Health Minister Ben Bradshaw.

However, the culture ministry has stressed that the change-around will not have any impact on plans for the digital future of the country.

It is thought that the Digital Britain report will be unveiled on Tuesday, June 16th.

When asked if the report is on schedule to be published as planned, a culture ministry spokeswoman said: "That's the timetable that we are looking at," THR.com reported.

She added: "Obviously when there's a change of minister he will be looking at the policy, but we are working on that basis."

Communications Minister Lord Carter published his interim Digital Britain report in January this year.

I think it was already a done deal before Andy Burnham left, and sincerely hope the final report is going to be good, and put Digital Britain back on track to becoming a leader in the etherworld.

Currently, it is stalling due to market failure in many areas, and no amount of fancy statistics from BT and Ofcom can cover up the fact that the legacy copper network is failing to deliver enough to cope with next generation access.
