Virgin Media launches £30-off cheap broadband incentive

Virgin Media has unveiled a raft of outstanding new broadband deals offering consumers savings of up to £30.
For a limited period, all customers who sign up for selected Virgin Media deals get free installation – ordinarily priced at £30. The reduction applies on broadband bundles that combine super-fast fibre-optic broadband, digital TV and home telephony.
Meanwhile, in a separate promotion Virgin Media is also offering a saving of £20 off customers' bills. This is available when they opt for a triple play package that also offers a home phone and digital TV facet but which includes a non-fibre optic ADSL broadband connection.
In order to qualify for the promotions, buyers must be new to Virgin Media. The end date for the incentive has yet to be confirmed, but demand is likely to mean that it will only run for a very limited period.
Alex Buttle, marketing director at the site, said: “With most people feeling some sort of financial strain right now, it’s great that we’re able to help with this outstanding value-for-money offer.
“Better still is that because savings are available for ADSL and fibre optic customers, it means that everyone can benefit.”
Virgin Media’s new incentive is the latest stage in a sustained drive to build its broadband customer base. Already this year the broadband supplier has sweetened its packages with add-ons, such as a photo processing and sharing service. This was preceded by the adoption of Googlemail as the company’s email platform, which offers improved online storage of up to 7GB.
Meanwhile, a matter of days ago, the internet service provider (ISP) announced a brand new music streaming service. The DRM-free service is the result of a collaboration with Universal Music and will offer its broadband customers an attractive alternative to illegal peer to peer downloads.
Virgin Media’s top fibre-optic broadband package currently provides the UK’s fastest commercially available broadband connection at 50Mb. By way of comparison, the average connection speed experienced by most Britons is around 3.6Mb.
