Virgin Media launches new HD channels
Posted 15th July 2009 at 12:21pm by Ewan Taylor-Gibson
Virgin Media's quad-play broadband customers may be interested to learn of a new TV offering from the internet service provider (ISP).
The broadband supplier has announced the launch of four new high-definition (HD) channels that will be available to its customers.
New HD representations of Living, FX, MTV Networks International and National Geographic are set to launch in the coming months, with the first scheduled for a July introduction.
Broadband customers subscribed to a Virgin Media bundle deal including its television service will have access to the new channels.
The ISP has made a policy of providing media content to customers by as many different channels as possible.
Its 50Mb fibre-optic broadband service is optimised to provide one of the best currently-available connections for streaming HD content straight to PCs and laptops.
Recently, a complaint made by BT against Virgin Media's 2008 fibre-optic broadband advertising campaign was dismissed by the Advertising Standards Agency.
