Broadband provider Be has refreshed its Value package to make it the first sub-£8-a-month service available in the UK with no traffic shaping.

Available for £7.50 a month, the deal gives consumers the chance to enjoy a service that sees all traffic treated equally, which means certain subscribers will no longer see their connections slow down at peak times.

A 40GB download allowance is also included with the service, which was created after consultation with consumers on forums and at its recent social events.

Tom Williams, Head of Operations at Be, said: "Our members demand the freedom to prioritise and think for themselves, not have their broadband provider do it for them."

He added that many customers will "leap at the chance" to sign up to the service.

Be recently confirmed it is supplying public Wi-Fi organisation Freerunner with free broadband for local communities without connections.

Over 46 locations have been selected to receive the services.
