Virgin Media's broadband TV bundle subscribers are set to receive another boost this spring, with the launch of the Discovery HD channel across its platform.
The broadband provider, which recently announced plans to offer Eurosport HD to viewers, will make additional broadcast material available on-demand as part of its agreement with Discovery Networks.
Discovery HD will broadcast all day, every day, offering content from the channel's 1,500 hours of high definition programming.
The channel offers shows covering a variety of topics, including popular science, history, engineering, culture and natural history.
Cindy Rose, Executive Director of Digital Entertainment at Virgin Media, said Discovery's programming is "all the more amazing in high definition" and will make "a compelling addition" to its growing HD line-up.
She added: "We're adding several more HD channels in the coming months, which we will make available to our XL TV customers for no extra monthly fee."
Earlier this week, Steven Soderbergh's Che Guevara biopic premiered in high definition to Virgin Media subscribers.
